Elvis cigarette case

My friend is a huge Elvis fan and she has this cigarette case that she uses as a wallet.

Inside the case there is a wall separating the lighter from the cigarettes. One of the rivets that are supposed to hold this wall in place was broken off.

I made a new rivet from a 2mm silver wire. I cut a piece about 5mm long and placed it in a pin vice to hold it firmly, then I made the head of the rivet with a cross peen hammer.

Then, from the inside, I placed the rivet through the hole in the separating wall and the hole in the case and cut it to the right length with a jewelers saw.

Using the tip of the horn on my small anvil as support for the inside head of the rivet, I made the outside head by riveting the pin with a cross peen hammer.

It fits snugly in place and the lighter is no longer rattling around in the case. This was a quick and very satisfying repair.
